Venom Testing

Cause: Allergic reactions to insect stings, such as those from bees, wasps, or hornets, occur due to venom allergies.

Symptoms: Symptoms can range from localised swelling, pain, and redness at the site of the sting to systemic reactions, including hives, difficulty breathing, and a drop in blood pressure.

Treatments: Venom immunotherapy (desensitisation) is an effective treatment for severe insect venom allergies. Epinephrine is administered in case of an allergic reaction.

Prevention: Avoiding insect stings is key. This can be achieved by wearing protective clothing when in areas known to have stinging insects and taking precautions to avoid encounters.
